Terms of Service
Terms of Service
Last updated 2026-05-11
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the BugJar service at bugjar.app. By creating an account or installing the SDK, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
BugJar is a bug-reporting platform. The service comprises (a) the web dashboard you sign into, (b) the JavaScript SDK you embed in your own product, and (c) the API endpoints both communicate with.
2. Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, including your business email and (where applicable) your team's billing information. Sign-in is passwordless; you are responsible for the security of the email account and Google account you use.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service to capture data without the consent of the people whose data is captured (your end users). The SDK is consent-gated by design; don't subvert that.
- Submit content that is unlawful, malicious, or infringes the rights of others.
- Attempt to access another customer's data, reverse-engineer the service for the purpose of replicating it, or interfere with operation.
- Use the service to transmit Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA, payment-card data covered by PCI-DSS, or other categories that require specialized handling we don't yet support. If you have such a use case, contact us before deployment.
4. Data ownership
You retain all rights to the content you and your end users submit. We acquire only the limited license needed to provide the service: transmitting, storing, processing, and displaying it back to your team. We do not use customer content to train machine-learning models.
5. Subscription and fees
The Free tier is free indefinitely; no payment method required. The credit pack is a one-time purchase, valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Solo and Team subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and require a payment method on file. You can cancel a subscription at any time from the billing portal; access continues through the end of the paid period.
When you reach your plan's monthly report cap, your end users continue to submit normally — their UX never breaks. New reports past the cap arrive on your dashboard with content hidden until you upgrade to a higher plan or apply a credit pack, at which point all locked reports from the current period unlock. We email at 80% of the cap so you can decide before the wall. We do not bill surprise overage charges.
6. Refunds
Within 14 days of a paid subscription start, we will refund unused time on request. After 14 days we generally do not refund, but reach out, we'd rather make it right.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend the account on notice for failure to pay, abuse, or behavior that puts other customers at risk. You may cancel at any time from the billing portal. On termination, we delete account and report data on the schedule described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Service level
We target 99.9% uptime month over month. Scheduled maintenance is pre-announced. The Free tier and credit-pack customers receive best-effort support without an SLA. Custom SLAs are available on request for paid subscriptions.
9. Warranties and liability
The service is provided “as is” without warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
10. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your content, your installation of the SDK in your products, or your breach of these Terms. We will defend and indemnify you against third-party claims that the service, used as documented, infringes a valid US patent, copyright, or trademark.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state and federal courts located in Delaware.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be emailed to the account contact 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
